My Story part 1 - In the Beginning

Hi, I'm Sarah! Welcome to my blog.

Nails from Nothing. You may be wondering what that means...

As long as I can remember, I have bitten my nails.

I bit them as far down as physically possible. As soon as they grew long enough to get my teeth around, I chomped them right back down.
I didn't do it for any particular reason, it was just a habit that I didn't think I could ever get out of. To be honest I never really tried, and I just couldn't imagine myself with anything other than horrid hands.

In the past ten years or so I have had a few sets of acrylics which didn't last long (chomped) and I occasionally used to wear glue-on nails, which promptly pinged off.

Apart from those odd occasions, my hands looked terrible. I was embarrassed to show them, and looking back I now realise how bad they were. I longed for nails of my very own, and seeing other peoples lovely natural nails made me envious.

So, in August 2013 - after a lifetime of biting my nails - I decided to attempt to grow them for the very first time. I went cold turkey, I completely stopped biting. It wasn't actually as hard as I thought because I was looking at the bigger picture and I was curious to see if they could ever grow long and strong.

Fast forward a few months, and I finally achieved what I'd always longed for... my very own nails to paint! Yippee! I got nails... from nothing.

So this is my journey and new life with nails. I will give more details about the actual growing process in my next post :)
